Four Corners’ new building at 121 Roman Road provides a significant new centre for film and photographic arts for London and beyond.
Environmentally-friendly sedum roof at Four Corners For many years Four Corners struggled to provide high quality training and production support in a hugely under-resourced building, described by Film London as 'woefully inadequate'. Then in 2003 a project to create a new centre for both film and photography was developed. The build project comprised refurbishment and creation of a new extension, providing 613m2 of new workspace under an environmentally friendly ‘green’ sedum roof. JaK Studio’s innovative design provides a flexible and accessible public space including training rooms, darkrooms, edit suites and a gallery for exhibition of both still and moving image work. Most importantly the new centre fulfils a key aim - to provide a dynamic environment to bring together filmmakers, photographers and artists working across disciplines, and at all levels. The £1million+ budget was supported by European Regional Development Fund, London Borough of Tower Hamlets Neighbourhood Renewal Fund, Film London, London Development Agency via City Fringe Partnership, Arts Council England and London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
