How long is the course?

Digital Futures is an umbrella scheme. Each trainee attends a particular training course in their area of specialism, as well as workshops that are for all trainees to attend. The course is roughly three months long, but you won't be in full time for the 3 months. Most trainees will attend on average for about 4 weeks in total. For example, if you choose to do Introduction to Digital Video, you will be in full time (10-5pm, Mon-Fri) for three weeks, and then intermittently after that for a few days here and there for workshops and masterclasses.

How many hours/days a week will the course be?

A usual day's training at Four Corners is 10-5pm, but there may be some evening workshops/networking events too. The exact schedule won't be available until the start of the course.

I see on the application that we need to give an order of preference regarding the training we would like; are the places available given on a first-come-first-served basis or do you take into account other factors?

We try to match people with the area of specialism that we think is most suitable for them, but it is dependent on your past experience/areas of interest, so give us as much information as possible in your application about your preferred area of specialism. All applications are reviewed after the application deadline.

Can I apply and send the relevant documentation on line or do you need a hard copy?

You can email your application and supporting documents, but we may request to see an actual copy of evidence of unemployed status (Letter from Job Centre for example).

Can you guarantee me a work placement?

The scheme offers the opportunity for 10 trainees to gain 9-week, paid placements with industry employers. The Training Coordinator will work closely with trainees to assess which of them would be suitable to apply for placement opportunities. However, while we have an excellent track record, we cannot guarantee a work placement for anyone.
